On September 4th, 2011, Walter was given a name and a blessing by his father, Landon Kelly Burgener. He was 3 months and 4 days old.
In the circle were his two grandfathers: Roger Jackson and Kelly Burgener, his great-grandfather Robert Wilkes, his uncles: Josh, Nick and Dallin, and Bishop Richard Watt of the Edgemont 8th Ward. (Spencer Walz, who we have taught in Sunday School for the last 2 years, held the microphone)
He wore a little sweater romper purchased at Amazon just for him, and was wrapped in
the same blanket Landon was blessed in 26 years earlier.
After the beautiful blessing and a wonderful testimony meeting, we had a party at our house. We were lucky enough to have 40+ members of the Sanders family, 10+ members of the Burgener/Wilkes family and a handful of friends attend.
Walter is a German name that means "powerful warrior." I hope that Walt will live up to this by defending his beliefs and his family in a turbulent society. Jack is Walt's great-grandfather's name. I hope he will wear this name proudly and, like my grandfather, be a hard worker, strong missionary for the church and a loving patriarch to a family of his own someday.
I am so grateful to have a husband who holds the priesthood and is willing and able to give our child everything he really needs in life, including an amazing example of manhood.
Thanks to everyone who came and made this a very special day for our family!
